The ground was broken for the new church building in Zillah on Friday April 10, 2009. I was asked to give a bit of history of the church in the area and of the Zillah Ward. The Zillah Ward was organized in August of 1992 and has been meeting in the Toppenish building since the ward was organized. The construction of the buidling will take about one year to complete. I was asked to pose in pictures with about four different groups breaking ground. One with the "diginitaries", one with the current bishopric, one with our family and one with former and current bishops and stake presidentcy members past and present. After the ceremony the activities committee served muffins, cookies, and hot chocolate.

That's pretty cool, Edmond. It sounds like you are quite the dignitary. How far do you have to travel to the Toponish building?
People think it's kinda weird that we have to travel to Whitney to church when we have a building a few blocks away. We've been going to Whitney for a lot of years. Don-Mike, almost 24, was blessed in that building.
We only have to travel about 4 miles. It is not really that far.
It looks like it was a exciting night for you! It is fun to watch them build them and it does seem like they go up fast.
We are getting a new building too. It is cool to see how much the church is growing even in small towns. Thursday our steeple is being put on the building. Supposedly it is going to be a big ceremony too. Perhaps it will be for your building too in nine or ten months. --Lee.
