I read in the paper this morning that Paul Harvey passed away. I was a fan of his "News and Commentary". I know that there was usually more commentary than news but I think this is why I liked to listen. Mr. Harvey had a distinctive radio voice and his introduction,"Stand by for news" always caught my attention.

His "Rest of the Story" series was always facinating and I would try to figure out who he was talking about before he gave away the name of the featured person. Ocassionally I would succeed but more often than not the rest of the story held a surprise.

I think of two things when I think of Paul Harvey's broadcasts. One is the strength of the human spirit and the other is the need to accept personal responsibility.
